More Photos from Jan 21

The weather was nice enough yesterday afternoon that I actually got out and went for a walk while looking for a subject for my "photo every day" project. I ended up taking quite a few photos and thought I'd go ahead and share them here. More photos after the jump.

The Wine Hutch

January 20, 2010 - The Wine Hutch
Photo taken inside my wine hutch. This is a set of miniature red wine glasses I have and I love the look of so much glass together in one place.

How I fell in love with Photography...

I remember well the first time I used a camera. My 5th grade class was going on a field trip to a local amusement park and my grandfather gave me a small instamatic to use. He told me to "document my day" and to "save the memories".

The camera felt "right" in my hands - I don't know how else to explain it. I found it mesmerizing that I could capture what I was seeing and have it stay around for all time - keeping that memory fresh in my mind.

January 15, 2010 - Deer in the Field

As twilight fell we had a group of about 8 - 10 deer show up in the field behind our home. By the time I got the window open to take a photograph most of them had run off from the sound. These two stayed behind and just watched me. Sorry for the low photo quality - I don't have a high low-light camera to work with.

January 14, 2010 - Blue Sky

Wow - something I haven't seen in a while! A bright blue sky finally starts to show itself as the sun chases away the thick layer of clouds we've been under for a loooong time. The clouds are so heavy and dark that it's almost difficult to see the outline of the mountains under them ... welcome back sun and blue sky - I've missed you :)

January 13, 2010 -
Dentist's Nightmare

We have tons of candy leftover from all the recent holidays - going all the way back to Halloween '09!! All headed for the trash today - I can't handle having this stuff around the house (simply because I can't seem to avoid eating it when I remember it's there!!!).

January 12, 2010 - "Staying in Touch"

I know many adults my age find "text messaging" the ultimate annoying issue of the day, but I've learned to embrace it. All it took was my adult daughter moving out of the house and six hours away. She is a "text-aholic" and I found that I could be in touch with her almost every day with immediate results if I only embraced this modern technology and her method of communicating. I've been texting for years, but I'll admit - it never meant much to me until she was far enough away that I actually realized what I was missing by not having our daily contact. This helps lessen some of that sorrow - if only a bit. I'll gladly learn to use all new technology if it helps keep me close to my loved ones, after all - once they leave we truly understand how much we need them in our daily lives.

HUGE ice cycles hang in front of my house - right in front of one of my two front doors - makes you feel imprisoned by mother nature.

January 08, 2010 - Security

We have this old time key in our house & yes it still operates a lock - I love these things but find it hard to think of them as "security" ... maybe I'm not old-fashioned enough!

January 6, 2010 - Winter Wonderland I

I took this photo by simply sticking it out my office window :) I figured I'd start a series called "Winter Wonderland" - as that seems to be about all I have to photograph around me! LOL It's so quiet and so peaceful here - I'm not complaining, just not sure I have the desire to go out in the cold everyday to find something new to photograph!

January 5, 2010 - This was the first day that I TOTALLY forgot about my goal of taking one photo a day - had to grab a quick snapshot of whatever was around me. I happened to be sitting in the parking lot at the MVG waiting for my husband so I grabbed a quick shot of one of the exterior trees with white lights on it. Not much to look at - but it does at least fulfill the requirement of the goal - technically! :)

Welcome Back!

I am returning my blog to this location. For a while I had hosted it on my own server but I find that blogger is easier to use while I travel - so I'm back :)

The first thing I'm going to do is transfer over most of my 2010 blog posts from my old site to this location - so some of the entry dates may not match their actual "posted" date - I'll try to put the posted date on each entry, just to help all of us (not the least of which is myself) keep things straight.

Glad to be back ... ;)
