Dunes of Montauk No. 1

If you take the Old Montauk Highway leading from East Hampton to Montauk in The Hamptons, you will pass by some amazing dunes on the way. This photograph was taken along this highway. It's not the fastest way out to Montauk, but it sure is my favorite path.

Newly Hatched

While traveling through East Hampton on Mother's Day, I decided to stop and check in on the resident Swan couple that lives on the town pond. The male (cob) had spent the winter building a nest for his mate and she (pen) had spent many weeks atop the nest caring for their eggs. I stopped and pulled out my camera and cautiously made my way to the couple, and wouldn't you know it - there on mother's day were at least 5 (maybe 6) baby swans (cygnets) under her wings! What a wonderful Mother's Day surprise!

This is the photo of the pen sitting upon her nest. If you look closely you can just see some of the cygnet's at her side.

A Mother's Touch

While traveling through East Hampton on Mother's Day, I decided to stop and check in the resident Swan couple that lives on the lake in town. The male (cob) had spent the winter building a nest for his mate (pen) and she had spent many weeks atop the nest caring for their eggs. I stopped and pulled out my camera and cautiously made my way to the couple, and wouldn't you know it - there, newly hatched on mother's day, were at least 5 (maybe 6) baby swans (cygnets) under her wings! What a wonderful Mother's Day surprise!
