"Isn't it Ironic" .... my own health care emergency with no insurance..

To quote a popular song..... "Isn't it ironic".....

Less than 48 hours after I post my opinion on the HCR law that just went into effect - my family is suffering a serious health care crisis and we have no health insurance.  Are the Fates smacking me around for my opinion?  Maybe ... only time will tell.  But because of it's timing I have chosen to document our families experience so that many of you can get a first-hand account - in real time while it's happening - on what trying to survive without health insurance is like.

For those of you who may not have heard already - my husband was flown by helicopter to Dartmouth Hospital this afternoon after suffering another heart attack. He is going to undergo heart bypass surgery.  At this point we do not know if the surgery will take place tomorrow morning or Monday morning. Lab results are necessary first before the surgical team can make the call.

A response to various comments received on my opinion of the HCR

My response here is not necessarily directed at your statement - but it is directed at many people who feel as you do (and as I occasionally do) but are going to extremes in carrying out those opinions.

First of all - I'm not going to get caught up in the political ideology of either party or any party. I am simply stating that I think Health Reform is 100% necessary but I believe this legislation will only make the problem worse and not better. I want the problem fixed - and fixed right the first time - not a plan that has to be 'tweaked" because it's the best we could get through at the moment. Frankly I don't care who succeeds at accomplishing this - just get the job done and let the credit fall where it may.

My thoughts on the new Health Care Law...

Before I made my decision on how I feel about this new Health Care Reform law, I downloaded a copy of the full Bill myself before it was passed into law and have read much of it.  I have verified points driven home by both sides of the issue - those for and against it.  I have found for myself how this law will affect me and my family.

Using the calculator established by the Washington Post at this link http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/politics/what-health-bill-means-for-you/  we can see what the real effect will be on average, real people and their families.

Let’s take a look at a few:
