Wild morning - hit a deer this morning while taking hubby to work :(
I LOVE my Jeep - she took the hit like a pro.
I managed to slam the brakes quickly enough that the air-bags didn't deploy (good thing with Dan's bypass surgery not quite healed yet) but the radiator got pushed back into the engine & fluid all over the road.
Immediately at least 8 cars stopped to help. Luckily one of the guys that stopped was a volunteer fireman and he got the deer off the road. Was really backing up early morning traffic.
I LOVE living in the country where people know how to deal with this stuff.
It was a "clean" hit - if there is such a thing and right away someone came by to pick it up for meat - nothing goes to waste in the country where people KNOW how to survive & be self-sufficient.
For the record - the Jeep held up wonderfully, the people were immediately helpful & great and I really don't want to ever live in a city or even a suburb again. This is how I grew up and what I love about people who understand how to survive.
Thanks everyone and THANK YOU JEEP!!!!
Called the police - GREAT PEOPLE - really helpful. I was really more worried about getting the antifreeze off the road, which they arranged - then anything else. If there is ever fluid on the road after something like this - make sure you make arrangements to get it cleaned up, really nasty stuff to leave around. Thanks Whitefield Police - you were great.
Geico was also wonderful. This is the third (?) time we have made a claim and each time they have had everything resolved within an hour - this time was a bit longer but that was only because we hit the deer at 6:30 am and nobody was open yet to make arrangements on the repairs. Thanks Geico - I started with you for the rates and have stayed all these years because of the service. I won't change insurance companies anytime soon.
