When I made my morning run to the grocery store this morning I saw just how hearty these native northern New Hampshirites are. While it is warm today, earlier it was still in the 50s or low 60s and I'm still finding it difficult to brave the weather without long sleeves and a jacket nearby. Not so with the natives - in the grocery store, right next to the freezer section was an older lady (probably a year or two older than me so I can technically say "older") in a loose flouncy tank-top, loose & comfy looking shorts and flip flops.
Now I can barely handle standing next to the freezer section in the grocery store without a jacket when I live somewhere like Florida - let alone here. But she seemed to be enjoying it and indeed looked like she was soaking up the cool air all around her. I'm wondering how long it will take before I am acclimated enough to our new environment to be as brave as the locals.
In the meantime I will soak up the warmth of the day and enjoy listening to birds chirping as opposed to the engines of snow-plows and be grateful for every ray of sun that falls on my face.
All with a jacket nearby of course :)
